There is a record of a memorial slab to John Hodson, who died in 1685, which was located on the wall of the chapter house of Elphin cathedral (RO016-127001-) (Burke 1895,115). This does not survive, but was read by Burke as: DEPOSITUM JOHANIS HODSON / NUPER ELPHININSIS EPISCO- /PE QUI OBYT 18TH FEBRY / ANNO DOMINI 1685 / ET AETATIS SUAE 77 / HIC REQUISECIT / SPE BES- / TAE RESUR- / RECTI- / ONIS.
