Graveslab in Unknown Townland

Graveslab

What is recorded here

Graveslab in Unknown Townland is a broken memorial slab in the churchyard of St Michan's church, County Dublin, Ireland. It still carries fragmentary Roman letters naming John Steel, buried 15 August 1654, and Henry Steel, buried 15 December 1667. The stones may have marked a family line, a household, or a local pride in being remembered. Whatever they lost, they wanted the town to keep their names alive.
