What is recorded here

Indicated was a circular enclosure thirty metres across on a Mayo ridge, visible on maps from 1837 to 1919 before ploughing erased it. It overlooked bog and grassland, with the Sonnagh River flowing far below, suggesting a place meant for watching rather than hiding. Whatever lived inside has vanished, leaving only the shape of a lost boundary in memory.

In improved pasture, located on the broad, undulating top of a ridge, providing good views over surrounding grassland and flat expanses of bog. The Sonnagh River skirts the base of the ridge, c. 180m to SW. This possible rath is shown on the 1837 and 1919 OS 6-inch maps as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m). It enclosure has been levelled; there is no visible trace at ground level. It may have contained a Man-made underground passage (MA062-134001-).
