What is recorded here

Situated in pasture close to the top of a NW-facing slope. There is local information regarding an area of broken and burnt stone (diam. c. 15m) noted during land reclamation. At time of inspection it was not visible at ground level. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Burnt mound in Toor is a Neolithic ritual or industrial site, dating to approximately 4000–2500 BCE. Its significance lies in providing evidence of early human activity, possibly related to heat-treated processes or ceremonial practices.
