The Giant's Lift stands in Tombeagh, County Carlow, a rectangular granite block one point two metres high with a girth of two point six metres. Irregular grooves cut across its surface, inviting fingers to trace the unknown force that shaped them. Locals still call it the Giant's Lift, as if the stone remembers the moment it left the ground.
