It is a 1.7-metre-tall red sandstone or conglomerate pillar with a rectangular section, aligned from north to south within Timoney Hills. The wider landscape holds hundreds of similar stones, including 221 counted by the Inspector of National Monuments between 1934 and 1936, though some may have been moved as ornamental features in the Timoney Park estate.
