Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Tawnagh More, County Roscommon, Ireland. It appears as a circular feature about forty metres across on the 1837 and 1914 Ordnance Survey maps, sitting on a gentle southeast-facing slope. The grass-covered area now measures twenty-eight metres across and keeps a slight scarp between two and eight decimetres high. Rath lies eighty metres to the southwest.
Marked as a circular feature (diam. c. 40m) on the 1837 and 1914 eds of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a gentle SE-facing slope. It is now a circular grass-covered area (diam. 28m) defined by a slight scarp (H 0.2-0.8m). Rath (RO011-122----) is c. 80m to the SW. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
