Structure

Scattered plank fragments and wood-chips at two sightings on the field surface (L 9.23m min.; Wth 0.96m; D 0.1m min.). The fragments formed part of a single tangentially split plank (Wth 0.225m max.; D 0.03m). Within the disturbed spread, the material to the NW is more concentrated than that to the SE. Much of it is displaced and in a semi-upright position. The site is in poorly humified Sphagnum peat with occasional Eriophorum. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2002. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
