Standing stone in Bolany

Marked as a standing stone only on 1940 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a steep N-facing slope overlooking the valley of the W-E Blackwater Stream. It was recorded in 1939 as a squat stone with a rectangular cross-section (dims of base c. 0.8m x c. 0.7m; H 0.65-0.8m) with a rectangular top (dims c. 0.4m x c. 0.45m) that might have been broken off. It was not visible at ground level in pasture in 1987. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996).
