What is recorded here
Indicated is a vanished fairy fort in County Cork, Ireland. A circular enclosure forty metres wide on a NE-facing slope, it appeared on the 1842 Ordnance Survey map before ploughs and pasture erased every trace. What remained was shape without substance: a circle the land had forgotten how to hold.
In pasture, on NE-facing slope. Hachured as circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; no visible surface trace.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
