Roestown holds a circular house seven metres wide, buried east of the main rath and waiting for hands strong enough to lift its roof. The slot trench still marks its southern edge, four postholes grip the ground, and a central packing stone preserves the shape of a room where people may have eaten, born or buried what they loved. The rectangular feature cuts across its base, proving the site changed rather than vanished.

While the large enclosure, rath and burial ground are preserved under introduced soil in a green area all the available external area was excavated (15E0125) under the direction of S. McGlade in 2018-19 (excavations.ie 2019:474). East of the large rath, in the triangular area available for excavation, two circular or penannular structures and one rectangular feature were recorded in a N-S line with a small enclosure just to the NE. Structure 3, at the centre of the line, was circular (int. diam. c. 7.25m) and defined by a slot-trench (Wth c. 0.3-0.5m) with an entrance gap (Wth 1.05m) at SW. The slot-trench only survives SW-W as it is removed by later features elsewhere but a central post-hole with packing stones enables the diameter to be gauged. There are four postholes in the base of the surviving slot-trench and it was probably a roofed structure. Its perimeter at S is cut by the N edge of the rectangular Structure 4.
