Midden in Robswalls — Report the wrong picture

Robswalls is a medieval shell midden in County Dublin, Ireland, measuring six metres long, two metres wide and ninety centimetres deep. During topsoil removal in 2002, traces emerged alongside sherds of local medieval pottery. People likely ate, discarded and lived there before the land was changed. The shells and broken pots preserve that ordinary human rhythm beneath the surface.

During monitoring of topsoil removal at Robswalls in 2002 traces of a shell midden were revealed (L 6M, Wth 2m, D 0.90m). Sherds of local medieval pottery were recovered from the midden (O Neill 2004, 184). Compiled by: Geraldine Stout Date of upload: 26 August 2011
