What is recorded here

The site (L 1.42m; D 0.21m) consists of a small number of horizontal planks. Four planks are orientated E-W and are set slightly apart from each other. The fifth piece is orientated NW-SE but may have been displaced. A light brushwood peg is recorded beside the most N plank. Wood species include oak, birch and yew. The site is situated in well-humified Sphagnum peat containing some ericaceous remains. The site has been dendrochronologically dated to AD 616±9 or later (Q9289). It is the most S of thirteen sites in close proximity and is 5.7m SE of SMR OF015-248----. It may be part of a substantial togher represented also by SMR OF015-246----, SMR OF015-247----, SMR OF015-249----, SMR OF015-250----, SMR OF015-251---- and SMR OF015-252----, some of which contain plank elements sharing the same orientation as those in this site.
