Road

A togher (exposed L 23m; Wth 1.1-1.25m), aligned WNW-ESE, was located on the field surface and was being milled (Dunne 1999, 45, 99DD0015A-C; 2002f, 205). Two adjoining fields were at a higher level than the fields on either side, which accounted for the survival of the togher at this location. The remains, noted at three points (15A-C) across two fields, comprised densely packed brushwood (diam. 0.01-0.025m) and twigs; some brushwood and twig pegs were also uncovered. Most elements were longitudinal with occasional transverses. A hurdle panel was also uncovered, lying over one section of the togher. A large transverse roundwood (L 3.9m; diam. 0.075m) (at 15B), orientated N-S, had a degraded chisel point at its S end.
