What is recorded here

Ten paces long and five wide, the burial ground lies hidden inside a larger earthwork in County Galway. People knew the name before surveyors drew the broken rectangle on paper in 1920, but no stone, ditch or marker remains for a visitor to touch. The dead may have rested there beneath ordinary soil while the living walked past, remembering without seeing. Forgetting did not empty the place; it returned the bodies and story to the ground that first received them.

Within an earthwork (GA042-204----). Known locally as burial ground, it was named but not marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map. This is rectified on 3rd ed. (1920), where a small unenclosed rectangular area (c. 10m by c. 5m) is shown defined by a broken line. No visible surface trace survives. Possibly a CBG.
