Excavation

Located in a low-lying landscape with an E-W stream c. 90m to the E and N. It was excavated (E3569) as the E part of Area 5 during 2006 on the N side of the existing road as part of the N25 road re-alignment scheme. It consisted of an irregular linear trench (dims. c. 3.3m NW-SE; c. 0.85m NE-SW; max. D 0.5m) filled with charcoal-flecked clay that produced a C14 date of cal. BC 2883-2621.
