Man-made underground passage in Ouvry — Report the wrong picture

Ouvry in County Monaghan holds a ruined underground passage beside a rath, now reduced to a shallow sunken area and a smaller spur. The main chamber measured 7.3m E-W, 2.2m N-S and 1.1m deep, while the spur extended 5m N-S, 3m E-W and 1m deep. The shape suggests people cut or dug a hidden route through the drumlin before collapse, decay or deliberate destruction erased its roof and walls. What is left is a quiet wound in the ground, waiting to be imagined rather than seen.

Situated on top of a drumlin and just NW of the centre of rath (MO027-069002-). A sunken area (dims 7.3m E-W; 2.2m N-S; D 1.1m) with a spur (dims 5m N-S; 3m E-W; D 1m) at one end may be a destroyed Man-made underground passage. Revised by: Michael Moore Date of revised upload: 31 January 2018
