Burial ground in Shankill (cremorne By)

Located on a S-facing slope. The townland name ‘Shankill’ is derived from the Gaelic ‘Sean Cille’ – the old graveyard, and there is a folk tradition (IFC Schools’ MS, vol. 940 39, 61: https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes) that there was a church and graveyard at this location, which was destroyed during the Penal period.
