Graveslab in Oldkilcullen

Graveslab

What is recorded here

Old Kilcullen keeps a knightly dead man carved on stone, yet the slab now lies beside a newer church in Ballymore Eustace. It left the old church and carried his shape into another town, denying the first place its finished story.
According to Bradley et al. (1986 vol. 4, 395), a graveslab bearing a 16th-century knightly effigy was moved from the medieval church in Old Kilcullen (KD028-049005-) to the modern R.C. church in Ballymore Eustace graveyard (KD029-011004-). See KD029-011011- for its present location. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 17 May 2013
