What is recorded here

In 1837, according to the OSL (Herity 2002, 67 (197)), ‘There are in the Townland of Castlefish, the ruins of an old Castle, which belonged, it is said, to Admiral Fish'. No visible surface traces survived in 1986 (SMR file). Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 14 May 2013
Built by or belonging to Admiral Fish, the castle is remembered due to its association with a notable historical figure and its mention in 19th-century local records, though no visible remains survive.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
