Enclosure in Neigham is a hidden moat and two lost raths, one named for water and one simply small. The moat still crosses the border between Neigham and Bramblestown, but the raths have slipped from the land or the memory of the place. They may be buried under grass, hidden in drainage, or reduced to a slight ridge that no one thinks to protect.

According to O’Kelly (1969, 71), ‘Thre is a moat and Ráithín and Ráth an uisce are two small raths’. The moat appears to refer to the moated site (KK024-027----) which straddles Neigham and Bramblestown townlands. There are no other ‘raths’ identified in this townland. The ‘raths’ (also recorded as KK024-092---*) mentioned by O’Kelly (ibid.) are unlocated within Neigham townland. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 13 October 2021
