Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

Man-made underground passage in Mullaroe is a man-made underground passage in Mullaroe, County Sligo, Ireland. An earlier report described a cave in Mullaroe with two openings and a well in its first chamber, but noted that it had not been fully explored. That account may refer to the separate passage marked Cave inside Mullaroe rath on the 1913 OS 6-inch map.
An earlier report (ITA Survey 1942-4) recorded a 'cave' with 'two openings' in Mullaroe. 'There is a well in the first chamber. This cave has not been fully explored.' This may refer to the Man-made underground passage (SL019-018002-), marked 'Cave' on the OS 1913 edition of the OS 6-inch map, within Mullaroe rath (SL019-018001-). Compiled by: Patrick F.
