What is recorded here

Mullagha is a place of markers and memory, where stones still stand beside roads and fields. Some may be ancient, though no clear date or name remains attached to them. They belong to the broader Irish landscape of standing stones, where boundaries, passage and remembrance became visible in rock.

Situated on top of a hill and on the N side of a NE-SW field bank. A stone with a D-shaped cross-section (dims of base 0.85m NW-SE; 0.6m NE-SW; H 2.6m) with a pointed top has the initials RM and the date 1723 inscribed on its flat NE face. It is located about the centre of enclosure (ME018-020001-). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987).
