Knockaunabasty is a ruined oval rath at the south end of a Galway ridge, its shallow scarp barely visible beneath modern grassland. A silage pit and quarry hollow have cut through the ancient earth, yet a children’s burial ground still marks the place as a boundary between the living and the dead. The fort has lost most of its shape, but the ridge and the buried children suggest it was never empty, only waiting to be forgotten again.

At the S end of a ridge in grassland. Very poorly preserved oval rath (51.5m N-S; 33.5m E-W) defined by a scarp. A silage pit has been dug into the interior at E. A rectangular hollow in the NW quadrant is the result of quarrying. A children’s burial ground (GA108-206001-) is associated.
