What is recorded here

According to John O’Donovan writing c. 1840 (O'Flanagan 1933, vol. 2, 216 17) there was an oval mound ‘65 feet (c. 20m) in circumference, about 12 feet (c. 3.65m) in height at the highest part and about 8 feet (c. 2.4m) at the other end’ located c. 200 yards (c. 180m) W of the church (WX040-047----). Neolithic passage tomb; dates to the early to middle Neolithic period (c. 3700–2500 BCE). Its oval shape and dimensions suggest it is a significant funerary monument, possibly associated with early farming communities in the region.
