Indicated

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Indicated was a ringfort in rolling Galway pastureland, reduced by cultivation to a faint thirty-six-metre mound before disappearing entirely. It is a fairy fort now, perhaps literally, its human shape forgotten and returned to grass. What was built, lived in and lost has become a rumor the land keeps private.
In rolling pastureland. Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 242, no. 145) an ‘Earthen fort’ which was almost completely levelled due to cultivation; a slight mound (diam c. 36.5m) was evident. No visible surface trace survives. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 18 April 2019

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
