What is recorded here

Indicated is a lost earthen ringfort in Galway pastureland, erased when a field fence crossed its bank. It measures twenty-nine metres across but no longer shows a ridge, hole, or shadow. The fort has become a hidden assumption inside an ordinary field, remembered only through the name and the fence that killed it.
In level pastureland. Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 212, no. 142a) as an ‘Earthen fort’ (c. 29.3m E-W; c. 25m N-S) and described as being ‘extremely ruinous’ as a field fence had been built on top of the bank. No visible surface trace survives. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 14 October 2016

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
