What is recorded here
Children's Burial Ground in County Cork, Ireland, appears on the 1842 OS map but has vanished beneath pasture and overgrowth. The land may still hold small bones beneath grass and soil, waiting for rain or plough to reveal what forgetting removed.
Marked 'Children's Burial Ground' on OS 6-inch map (1842). In pasture. Site indistinguishable due to heavy overgrowth.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
