The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Situated close to a second midden (LH008-026002-) on the edge of a morainic ridge, near the entrance to a former lagoon. This midden was of indeterminate size (T c. 2m) and consisted mainly of oysters (Ostrea edulis) and periwinkles (Littorina littorea). Flints found in association with the midden were 7 single-platform cores, 99 blades and flakes, 2 butt-trimmed flakes and a rough scraper (CLAJ 1947, 169-74). This assemblage can be assigned to the latest phases of the Irish Mesolithic (Woodman 1978, 306-8).
