Hut site in Mangerton

In rough hill pasture, on the S-facing slope of Mangerton Mountain, overlooking the valley of the Owbeg River. The remains of a circular hut site (diam. 2m) defined by a collapsed drystone wall (T 0.6m; H 0.3m). The wall is best preserved at N but only a trace of it survives at S. The S portion of the interior is raised and the N portion is cut into the upslope to compensate for the hillslope. Loose stones are scattered on the downslope externally. There are relict field boundaries (KE084-040004-) c. 22m to the N. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
