Field boundary

What is recorded here

In rough hill pasture, on the S-facing slope of Mangerton Mountain. A ruined linear stretch (L 58m) of wall (T c. 0.7m; H c. 0.4m), on a NE-SW axis, protrudes and disappears through the bog. The wall comprises two sections: the NE section (L 34m) and the SW section (L 12m) which are interrupted by a break (L 12m) towards the SW end. A hut site (KE085-032004-) abuts the SE side of the north-easternmost section, c. 12m from the NE end. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 May 2011
