Kilcroney is an underground passage in a ringfort, the kind of hidden depth people still point to in County Louth. Whether it is a cave, a cellar or a forgotten way through the earth, the story is the same: the ground there does not end, it continues.

The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991).
