Rock art in Magheranaul

Rock art

What is recorded here

Rock art in Magheranaul is a single faint cup mark cut into weathered bedrock on a heather-covered slope in County Donegal, Ireland. The small mark sits beside an old wedge tomb, suggesting people once gathered there to observe the sky, celebrate life, or mark the land for others. Its simplicity does not diminish it; it preserves the moment when human hands first shaped the stone into meaning.
Situated on S facing slope of rising heather covered ground with wege tomb (DG004-041) decorated with rock art 90m to the NW. Sheet of bedrock which has the faintest traces of a single cup mark (diam. 0.06m) visible on its weathered surface. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload/revision: : 30 May 2010
