What is recorded here

Indicated is a crannog in Lough Key, County Roscommon, Ireland. It is a circular overgrown island at the centre of a bay in the southwest corner of the lough. Two fragments of quern-stones appeared on its surface, while no timber construction remained visible. Two other crannogs sit nearby, and tradition names the three sites the Hag's Leaps.

At the centre of a bay (dims. c. 800m NE-SW; c. 250m NW-SE) at the SW corner of Lough Key. Circular overgrown island (diam. 18.5m E-W; 17.5m N-S; H 1m) in a deep part of the bay. There is no visible evidence of timber in the construction, but two fragments of quern-stones were visible on the surface. Crannogs (RO006-029----; RO006-035----) are c. 340m to the SW and c. 450m to the NE, the three being known traditionally as the Hag's Leaps (O'Flanagan 1931, vol. 1, 119).
