Lissaniska held a D-shaped ringfort beside a stream in Glenaniff valley, yet even its exact position has slipped from human memory. What remains is a ghost of a boundary: a low bank, a narrow floor, and a line of water that may have done half the work of keeping the place safe. Forgetting has not erased it, but redrawn it. The land keeps its shape while people lose the name that pointed to it.

A ringfort in Lissaniska was described c. 1942 as a D-shaped area (dim. c. 25m) defined by an earthen bank (H c. 1m) and backing on to a stream on the E side (SMR file). Its exact position is not known. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003).
