Heat-shattered stones and charcoal-rich soil mark a fulacht fia in Lisnagar Demesne, where an oval trough and thirty-three stake-holes still lie beneath a seven-metre mound. People may have heated water for cooking, cleaning or ritual beside the stream, while another site waits fifty metres away. The bypass works revealed what rain and centuries had hidden.

A spread of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil was uncovered during testing in advance of the construction of the N8 Rathcormac-Fermoy Bypass. Subsequent excavation in 2003 revealed the minimum extent (7m x 6.5m) of a mound which overlay an oval trough (2m x 1.8m), three pits and 33 stake-holes some of which may have been the remains of structures. Another fulacht fia (CO044-082----) lies c. 50m to the NNE on the opposite side of a stream.
