What is recorded here
Detached four-bay two-storey building, c.1870, on a corner site retaining original fenestration with two-bay two-storey side elevations and originally in commercial use to ground floor having accommodation over. Reroofed and renovated, c.1995. Now disused. Hipped roof with replacement artificial slate, c.1995, clay ridge tiles, rendered chimney stacks having stepped capping, and cast-iron rainwater goods on rendered eaves. Unpainted rendered walls (possibly replacement, c.1995) with rendered quoins to corners, and moulded rendered cornice to first floor possibly originally surmounting fascia. Square-headed window openings with rendered sills. 2/2 timber sash windows (with overlight to side elevation to east) with fixed-pane timber windows to left ground floor in bipartite arrangement having round-headed panes with colonette mullions. Square-headed door opening with timber panelled door, and overlight. Road fronted on a corner site with concrete footpath to front.
A well-proportioned building, purpose-built to accommodate a commercial use to ground floor having residential accommodation over, which, despite now being disused, has been very well maintained retaining its original form and massing, together with much of the original fabric. Occupying a prominent corner site, the building contributes significantly to the streetscape value of Main Street and Church Lane.
