What is recorded here

Indicated is a crannog hidden in one of two Drumard Loughs in County Leitrim, Ireland. The larger lough measured about 450 metres long and 180 metres wide when surveyed in 1835, while the smaller one measured about 300 metres across in both directions. A tree-covered place in the smaller water may still hold the remains of a house, kitchen or workshop built above the lake. That is why the site resists easy description: it is recorded only as indicated, not fully known.

A small island is indicated close to the SW shore of the oval Drumard Lough (dims c. 450m NNW-SSE; c. 180m ENE-WSW) only on the 1835 edition of the OS 6-inch map. A small area with trees which is inaccessible in a smaller Drumard Lough (dims c. 300m NNW-SSE; c. 300m ENE-WSW) might be a crannog.
