What is recorded here

No visible fort remains at Gallaun today, though a tall standing stone still rises in the south-eastern corner of the old earthwork. The stone predates any Cromwellian fort by millennia, and its later incorporation gives the place an odd layered life: ancient mark, military boundary, forgotten field.

In pasture, on a hillock to the SE of a dwelling. This standing stone (dims. 1.6m x 0.95m; H 1.55m) is subrectangular in plan and tapers towards the top.
