Structure

A deposit (Wth 2.35m; D 0.3m) of nine dispersed pieces of brushwood (diam. 0.01-0.045m) in the drain face. Two pieces have metal-cut toolmarks. Wood species include alder, birch, ash and willow. The site is situated in well-humified Sphagnum peat containing Eriophorum and woody roots and twigs. It is located c. 0.4m below the SE sighting of SMR OF015-190----. A single piece of worked wood is recorded in the opposing drain face but its relationship to the site is uncertain. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
