Structure

A piece of alder brushwood (L 0.75m; diam. 0.05m) in the drain face. The piece has a metal-cut chisel point. It is situated in poorly humified Sphagnum peat containing fibrous roots and small twigs. In the opposing drain face, three smaller pieces of unworked brushwood are recorded and may be related to the worked piece. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
