What is recorded here
Crane Island is a small wooded islet at the eastern edge of Garadice Lough where Colonel Myles O'Reilly built a desperate refuge during the Cromwellian wars. The ruined bawn still holds a circular tower with gun loops, though one lost its dressed stone to vandals in 2013. It never faced battle because Myles surrendered at Clogh Oughtar in 1653, leaving the fortress to rot into grass and memory.
Crane Island is recorded as a islet in County Leitrim. Its open map record supplies this location and any linked names or public references.
