What is recorded here

Doon is an oval fairy fort on a Galway ridge, its twin banks and central ditch still sharp after centuries of grass growing over forgotten feet. The causewayed entrance faces southeast, inviting entry into a space where human ambition or fairy mischief may have shaped the earth. Two stray banks angle northward like abandoned thoughts, perhaps belonging to a lost annexe that time swallowed. A second ringfort waits one hundred seventy metres away, suggesting Doon was never isolated but part of a larger conversation between people, land, and imagination.

On a ridge in undulating grassland. This impressive oval rath (N-S 40m, E-W 31m) is defined by two well-preserved banks and an intervening fosse. Causewayed entrance at SSE. Two parallel banks (L 3m) run off the outer bank, at right angles, at NNE and NNW; possibly part of an annexe. A ringfort (GA042-165----) lies c. 170m to NE.
