Half-buried in the west edge of a Clare rath, the cave stretches three and a half metres from northwest to southeast, its roof gone in places and its far end sealed behind a lintel. The 1916 map still calls it a cave, as if naming it were enough to keep the dark accountable. A large boulder and another hollow shadow suggest a second chamber, perhaps a place for hiding grain, a child, or a fear no longer spoken.

In the W sector of a rath (CL005-044----). Indicated and named ‘cave’ on the 1916 ed. 6-inch map. An overgrown, partially unroofed Man-made underground passage (L 3.5m; Wth 2m; D at SE end 0.6m) orientated NW to SE with a roofed lintel leading to an inaccessible room at its NW end. 2m E of the roofed room, a large boulder (L 1.8m) and another collapsed hollow may mark another room.
