Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Knockatee is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Knockatee, County Westmeath, Ireland. This large sub-circular shaped slightly raised area, measuring approximately 57 metres in the north-west to south-east direction and 61 metres in the north-east to south-west direction, sits on a steep rise in grassland with good views from the west-north-west. It is enclosed by a poorly preserved earthen bank, which is reduced to a scarp in places, and a wide, very shallow external fosse. An entrance gap 2.6 metres wide at the north-east provides access, and traces of cultivation ridges are visible running west-northwest to east-southeast across the interior, which rises towards the centre.
Situated on top of a steep rise in grassland, with good views from W-NW. Ringfort (WM012-142----) 100m to N. A large sub-circular shaped slightly raised area (approx. diam. 57m NW-SE; 61m NE-SW) enclosed by a poorly preserved earthen bank and a wide, very shallow external fosse. The bank has been reduced to a scarp in places. There is an entrance gap (Wth 2.6m) at NE. Traces of cultivation ridges are visible running WNW-ESE across the interior, which rises towards the centre.
