Ahnanech is a disused ford where the Camoge River once carried animals and vehicles across County Limerick until a modern bridge appeared in 1930. Three standing stones marked the shallow part during floods, but river works later pushed them onto dry land. They still stand there, reduced from guides to ghosts of a crossing that no longer needs them.

Crossing point over the Camoge River described by O'Kelly (1944, 23) as following; This ford was the crossing for animals and vehicles just below the primitive bridge (LI032-141011-), and was in use up to the time of the building of the modern structure [1930]. At that time the bed of the river was cleaned and deepened. In the centre of the ford before the cleaning there were three standing stones in a line across the river, which served to indicate the shallow part when the river was in flood.
