Ring-ditch in Kilpoole Upper

Situated in a area of flat ground c. 400m from the coast. A cluster of eight ring-ditches, possibly representing ploughed-out barrows, visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (CUCAP, BDJ 77, 80). One is bivallate (int. diam. c. 15m; ext. diam. c. 30m) and is cut through by a road. The other seven (diams. c. 5-15m) are adjacent to the SW and NW. Three of these adjoin the outer enclosing element of the bivallate site while the others are within a distance of 30m. This cluster forms part of an extensive complex of ring-ditches (WI031-012001- to WI031-012007- and WI031-046----) extending eastwards to the coast.
