What is recorded here
Kilpatrick Well is a phantom. The survey markers still dot the Offaly field, but human hands have forgotten the water, leaving the chart to point at empty air.
Not visible at ground level. No local knowledge of a holy well in the area, marked on all editions of the OS 6-inch map with second holy well immediately to the W (OF016-002----).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
