What is recorded here

Kilpatrick is a place where a church may have existed and then vanished into a wall. The enclosure wall in the tree plantation still stands, perhaps carrying stones taken from that lost building. People may have prayed inside the church before the wall was built, but no clear record preserves their names or dates. The wall remains as a fragment of a place that memory has almost erased.

It is suggested that that an enclosure wall in a tree plantation includes in its make-up some of the building stones of the possible medieval church at Kilpatrick (LH017-050001-) (MacIvor 1956, 412). Compiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 21 June 2012
