Kilpadder South ringfort hid a man-made underground passage in its south-east corner, yet no visible surface trace remains. Bowman noted the site in 1934, preserving the shape of what disappearance erased. The passage may have served as a cellar, refuge or ritual path, but the earth has taken back its evidence.
